Dance Style
The elegant Brazilian partner dance, known as 'Brazilian Tango'.
Samba de Gafieira emerged in the 1940s in the dance halls (gafieiras) of Rio de Janeiro. It combines samba rhythms with sophisticated partner work and close embrace, creating a uniquely Brazilian ballroom experience.
Samba de Gafieira is characterised by its elegance and complexity. Unlike Samba no Pé (the solo carnival samba), this is a partner dance with lifts, dips, and intricate footwork all while maintaining the infectious samba groove.
